The Blacksmith Cottage is located at 100 Main Street, Bacchus Marsh. It is heritage listed and is on the National Estate list and has National Trust classification. It is the only publicly owned heritage site in Bacchus Marsh.
It was purchased from the Edwards family in 1974 by the Bacchus Marsh (now Moorabool) Shire. In 1979, the cottage was opened as a small cottage museum by Professor Geoffrey Blainey. In 1992 the Blacksmith Cottage and Forge Special Committee was formed. A name change now sees us as operating as the Blacksmith Cottage and Forge Advisory Committee. This Committee now has the responsibility for all operational details.
Entry to the Cottage is FREE however a small entry fee may be charged for groups.
The Cottage is open one sunday a month from 11.00 – 3.00
The next opening dates are Sunday 8th December, Sunday 12th January and Sunday 9th February
